Fashion

I be stylish. Sometimes.

The lovely Roshi over at Whimsical Delights awarded me this… award. Exciting, huh? At least one person thinks I’m stylish! 😀 Thank you so much, love!

Rules of the award:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.
2. Tell us 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 7 recently discovered new bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and let them know they’ve received the award.

Seven things about me:

  1. I’m a little bit addicted to lotions.
Okay, a lot addicted to lotions. I currently have about twenty lotion bottles, some that are nearly seven years old, and while I never use the old ones, I just… can’t give them up. I don’t know why.
My favorite lotion line, by the way, is Secret Garden  from Victoria’s Secret. Their lotions absorb into my skin the best.
  2. I’m kind of a klutz. I run into walls (on rollerblades, no less), I sneeze and move ovens with my butt (true story: I sneezed while doing the dishes, turned away from the sink and bent over with the force of the sneeze, and my rear-end, which faced the oven, hit the oven handle and shifted the oven back an inch or two. That right there is talent.), trip off of steps while wearing heels, and frequently lose my balance when there’s not actually anything there to trip me.
Oddly enough, I’m better at walking in heels than I am in flat shoes. Probably because I just pay more attention when I’m3-4 inches further off the ground and walking on a stiletto.
  3. To go with my klutziness, I really don’t embarrass that easily; I’m more likely to turn red for something that nobody knows about  than a situation where I’ve just made a fool of myself in front of fifty people.  I tend to just laugh things off.
  4. I have never, ever been in a relationship. I had a close encounter once, but no dating. (I have been pursued and asked out, mind you. I’m just… not one to jump into relationships lightly, and have never been approached by the right guy.)
  5. I am musical– I’ve played the piano for almost twenty years, can sing, and often compose random songs.
  6. I have always really loved cats. The first cat I remember was named Toby, and I was too small to pick him up– I was around two or three– and we have a lot of pictures of me when I was little holding the various cats that we owned. Weirdly, though, the first cat that was actually mine… I didn’t get until I was fifteen. (She’s the one I have right now.)
  7. I’m sort of a water fanatic. I have a water bottle with me almost all the time, and other than coffee, water is all I ever drink. I love it.

And the newly discovered stylish bloggers (newly discovered to me, anyway.):

Jessica, from The Wrinkled Dollar
Annebeth from The Styling Dutchman
Addie, at The Cat Hag

Aaaaaannnddd… yeah. That’s all I can think of in trying to tag people that are relatively unread (aka, no tagging someone that gets 100+  comments per post). I’m really sort of a terrible blog reader/commenter.  I would have tagged Roshi, but… she got me, so. You can at least go look at her beautiful style and see how amazing she is.

Thanks again!

Number 4 is me. So me. Me, me, me. I feel we’re more twinly than ever. 🙂

*siiiigh* When’s the right one going to approach, Mara? Hm? 😛

  • Sarah

Miss Mara!! You are amazing! I love all these great facts about you…being a klutz..love it!!! the cat thing and no relationships!! its like ohmygod HELLO!!! am I writing a comment on my own blog!

Great facts!!! and i was wondering what was the comment you deleted hahahah how was it bad…Im so curious as to what the rebel wrote!

    • Mara

Hehe, I know! We ought to start a club for girls who love cats on the internet. It would be fun! 😀

Oh, yeah. The comment I deleted said about half of what I said in the second comment– I typed some, hit post, and then remembered more things I wanted to say. And I felt like an idiot for posting twice. 😀

  • annebeth

aaaaaaaaaah thanks so much for the shout-out! your list of facts is superadorable, the one about the sneeze and butt bust – hilarious 😀 Don’t worry about not having had a boyfriend yet: if I hadn’t met mine so early, I’m sure it would’ve stayed verrrry quiet on the dating front around here too. There aren’t a lot of guys that are worth your while, sadly. I sound like such a frigid bitch 😀

    • Mara

You’re welcome! I’m actually going to feature you as one of my style inspirations on Saturday. 😀 I’m glad you liked my list, hehe.
I’m not worried about it– I actually have a few things I want to do before I find a man. And you don’t sound frigid. You sound like me. (And hopefully I’m not frigid!) 😉

  • shreejacob

    Congratulations!! 🙂

Funny thing, I wrote about walking in stilettos just recently!
I love lotions too! I don’t have that many though because I’m able to throw out unused bottle after keeping them for more than a year 😛 The weather here is so humid that my good intentions of using lotions go down the drain every time, but I must say I might want to try Victoria Secret!!

    • Mara

      Thank you!
Oooh, now I have to go look for that post and read it. 😀
Haha, yeah. I think I’m just too lazy to throw them out– and I have memories of how good they smell, but… I never use them. I should clean out my lotion collection. And Victoria’s Secret lotions are the best I have ever used. They soak in really nicely, smell amazing, and don’t leave a greasy layer. I love them!

Hi! Congrats on this award! I’m so so stupid, I didn’t know Roshi had a blog!!!! And I always comment on her outfits on Chictopia… Anyway, the 7 things about yourself are very, I don’t know, beautiful! I like to get to know people I like better! And I read your story, the one you linked in #4… That was probably one of the most amazing and well written stories I have ever read… I actually related. I know I’m 17, ok 16 ( 😛 ), but it’s kinda weird to see other girls being constantly in relationships.. Well, I know, I’m weird, I’m hard to cope with and I’m kinda egoist, but again it’s not a very good thing to feel, hmm… unwanted. So anyway, I love this post, your blog is awesome! Oh and that’s why you named it Toby?? Because of your cat?? That’s cool! 🙂

    • Mara

Hi, dear! Yes, she does, and it’s awesome!
Awww, thank you. 😀 I like getting to know people I like better, too.
I agree, it is odd to me to see girls go through relationships all the time. So you can join my club. And know that somewhere out there, eventually, there will be a guy that loves you for exactly what you are!
Haha, I named it Toby because I really like the name…which is probably something to do with that cat. So… sort of? 😀

  • Asia Morela

Congrats on your award! It does you justice. 😀

As per relationships, I tend to think that there is no absolute rule that would work for everyone. From what I know of you, I’m confident that you’ll be able to find the right guy and make it work at first shot… I know I wouldn’t, I couldn’t. I had just too many problems and insecurities to understand what “being in a relationship” entailed without experiencing it firsthand. Going through different relationships has taught me a lot, made me a much better person, and I’m grateful for being blessed with each experience. I was lost, and I’m found.

Sort of what I tried to express on my own blog today…

On a jollier note, yay for being a klutz! I’m kind of one myself, when I get started. Last time I ice skated, I bumped into a little kid because I didn’t know how to brake. He must’ve found me so dumb. 😛 I regularly bump into door frames or tables, too. It’s great to be able to laugh it off. I’ve gotten quite good at it myself, which is an incredible relief from the time I used to feel self-conscious and easily humiliated.

I’ve never had a cat, but I hope to have one someday. I always try and pet other people’ cats when I visit… 🙂 Sadly my boyfriend is allergic, but that only means we’ll have to have a big house with a garden! And keep it clean. So I can have my cat anyway. 😀

    • Mara

      Thank you!

I agree, it just depends on the person. My oldest brother and his wife were both the first and only people either of them dated, while my middle brother dated a few times before marrying, and my youngest brother is… still looking and has dated a few times. I learn from what other people do, and I’m generally much more… individual, I suppose. I’m more like my oldest brother– find one person, and stick with that one person. 😉 It’s just the way I am!

Haha, yeah. It’s a good thing to be able to laugh off klutziness, otherwise you’d never have any fun. 😀 I used to be easily humiliated when I was younger, too, but I learned (partly because of my brothers) to just laugh and keep having fun.

It’s hard when your significant other is allergic. Meh, who needs boyfriends? Get a cat. 😀 HAHA! Kidding.

Ha ha . . . I like the klutz story!

#4 + #7 = same here. 😉 Well, accept for the close encounter and getting approached part of the former. I’ve never been approached nor had any sort of close encounter, and I’m very glad of it.
