Hats count as scarves, right?

I have found the love of my life. Or rather, the four loves of my life. And no, none of them are men. (Ah, someday. Although I really hope that when that happens, there’s only one. Four would be a bit much.)

Love number one: This hat. My mom made me this hat, and I. love. it. To death. It is my favorite hat. Although that’s not saying much, because it’s pretty much the only hat I have. I have now put in a request for one in every color of the rainbow.

Love number two: this haircolor. OH my goodness, I love it more and more every time I see it! I think I have definitely found the “me” haircolor!

I’ve had to rethink my makeup choices, though, with the new hair. Which is interesting. Less blush (I generally have a very pink face, but it doesn’t suit this hair to use bright blush any more. Peach is better.), lighter eyeshadows. I rather like the adjustment, so far.

Love number three: orange lipstick. I’ve seen it on other people… well… never in real life, but in the blogosphere and on models in magazines, and  I’ve always wanted to try it but I’ve been too lazy. Why was I so lazy? This lipcolor is FANTASTIC!  And it works surprisingly well with my new hair.

Love  number four– possibly the most loved of all (and do I even need to say it?): owl rainboots. OH. MY. GOODNESS.

Pure joy.

So all in all, this outfit is one of my absolute favorites in a LONG time. I feel like I could go roaming around the countryside, ride a bike down rural lanes, curl up with a good book and a cup of tea… all I need is the right country to do all that in. (Ireland. If you were wondering.)

And speaking of Ireland, I just discovered that I have a regular who is Irish. Accented and all. I didn’t notice until today, because he’s never said much, but he finally asked about my “Ireland Funds” tip jar, and told me he was born and raised in Tipperary.

It’s a little bit ridiculous how giddy I was after he left.

What can I say? Ireland makes me happy.

These boots are so cute I may explode and die.

Also, if this is not what bald  heads and bright lipstick are meant for, then life has no meaning. (Hi, daddy.)

I’m sorry if the highlighted prices is distracting; whatever color the text was, I couldn’t get it to show up well on these pictures. So I had to improvise, and this is what I came up with. It still works, right? Albeit in a slightly more “in your FACE” way.

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I am going to go eat supper, retrieve a movie from the library, and go to bed. Because I have to get up in… about ten hours.

Ah, the life of a barista.

I hope you are all having a beautiful Monday! (I just typed Wednesday. I swear I really am all here.)

Ah I love your boots sooo much!! I’ve been drooling over pictures of rain boots lately.

Your new hair color looks fabulous on you + the orange lipstick + the awesome hat= perfectness! You always look so pretty 😛 And I think the highlighted prices stand out in a good way.

Have fun with your movie 🙂

I envy your hair and face and lipstick and coloring and I love the picture of the lipstick kiss and bald head, even though he’s your dad and I’m having a father-matters-sensitive day. I’m not so close with mine. Overall, I love this post. You make me excited to grow up even though right now all I want to be is five again.

    • Mara

I hope your days have gotten better since this comment!
I wish I could be five, sometimes. But growing up is nice, too. 😉

No they don’t!! (hat’s counting as scarves) But your outfit is sooo spledid, I guess we can let it slide. 😉 I love the hat on you! Some people can’t really pull it off, but you obviously do! I really wish my hair would look good colored, but it’s so curly I fear it would just look strange… O.o I really love that hair color! 😀 *squeals* It’s such a happy color! (And it just so happens to be the one I voted for. 😉 ) I need a pair of rain boots. It rains soooo much at my college! I hope I’m lucky enough to come across such an awesome pair as yours! Some day all of us crazy, Emerald Isle-loving writers will finally get our dream trip to Ireland! For now we can just save up and dream. : / My goodness! Comenting ends up being a big long paragraph of random snippets of thoughts pilled together in one unsightly heap! So, I suppose I will stop piling on more quips and conclude by saying, you are such a stylish, awesome, imaginative, crazy, beautiful person! Hope you have a lovely Tuesday! 🙂

      But… they’re made out of the same material… 😀
Thank you! I think curly hair looks good colored, it really more depends on your skin tone and style. Some people just look funny with colored hair because it’s not their personality, other people can pull of the craziest colors like it’s natural because of how they act. 😀

Target has some really cute ones!
Yes! We should all meet up in Ireland. I think that would be amazing. *Sigh* oh, Ireland. I really do need to go there.

Oh my goodness, you’re so adorable! Is it weird that I’m practically giddy with excitement over all your loves??

And we must be soul-twins or something because I just found my thus-far favourite hair color of all time on Thursday afternoon and it happens to be a brighter red than I’ve ever gone before, though not so red as yours. But I think that’s mostly due to the fact I still have remnants of my black dye session so the ends are not very noticeably red. Regardless, I think it’s funny how we do these things around the same time. 🙂

And I have one Irish customer too! He’s a slightly crass old man, but I don’t mind because of his accent. 😛 He comes when we’re busy though, so I don’t know where he’s from.

Love the picture of your dad. 😉

    • Mara

I thought of you when I wore this! The hat especially reminds me of you.

Hehehe! We MUST be soul twins. I had that experience when I dyed my hair red for the first time– it wasn’t very bright. But the more I dye it, the brighter it gets.

It always makes me laugh because people with accents different from my own just don’t sound as crass when they say things or swear. (I just typed “sweater”) So I know what you mean!

      • Bethie

Hurray! That makes me happy. 🙂

Oh good, then there’s hope for vibrancy in my redness of hair! 😀 I’ve also started loving the color green on me. I think it makes me feel more connected to my Irish roots. Hehehe… roots. 😛

Yes!! Ooo, except some British swears. Sometimes those sound FAR worse in an accent. Like they should be taken more seriously. There’s a British man with a red-headed non-accented daughter who comes to work semi-regularly now and I’m slightly in awe of him because his accent makes him sound like royalty. Eeep!

  • Demy

Warning: This comment is full of exclamation marks and emoticons. You’ve been warned 😛

OOOOOMAAAAAAAGOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! OMGAAAD!!! OH.MY.GOD!!!! That’s pretty much what I can say now! You.are.breathtaking!!! BREATHTAKING, I tell you!! And the boots? LOOOVE!!!!! Everything is gorgeous! And the lipstick! The liiiipstick! 😀 You’re stunning! I’m so excited right now that I don’t think I can say something meaningfull, so I’ll leave it here!
    YOU’RE AWEEESOME!!!!!!! 😀

P.S. Your papa is the cutest! He looks so amazing with your lip stain on him hahhahaha! 😀

    • Mara

Hahahahaha! The warning at the beginning cracked me up. Oh, Demy. You make me smile.

      Thank you, love! <3

I like my papa, too. His bald head was made for lipstick marks. Hehe.

  • Asia Morela

This hat is amazing! Your mom could open a boutique. 😀
    And super owl boots. 😉

I’ve never thought of having to adapt one’s makeup to one’s hair coulour, ’cause I’ve never dyed mine, but oh! it’s true! Good tip if I ever decide to play with hair dye.

    • Mara

That’s what we keep telling her! She’d rather only make the hats if people ask for them.

Yeah, I had always heard that but I’d never dyed my hair a color that needed adapting. So this is different. And fun.

  • Jamie Rose

Aw everything about this outfit is so cute! I love that hat and how the color looks with your incredible new hair color. The owl rain boots are pretty adorable and that’s saying something because I’m generally not a fan of rain boots!
    Also, Ireland is awesome.

    • Mara

      Thank you!
They must be amazing boots if even you like them! I’ve always had a thing for rainboots, so… I love them.
And yes, Ireland is awesome. 😀

Speaking of Ireland, how’s the next SIA chapter coming along?

You know, you should probably just write “day” instead of whatever day of the week it is. It would really save quite a lot of backspacing.
