30 Day Challenges,  Fashion

30 Days of Dresses: and I look like a pumpkin.

You can’t really tell in these pictures, but this dress has the tendency to make me look pregnant. That, and the way I stand when someone’s taking a picture of me- I try to be all cool and model-esque, but just end up slouching one shoulder weirdly, jutting my hip to one side, and forgetting to suck in my stomach. It’s not pretty.

Thankfully, about halfway through the shoot, I remember that slouching is not beautiful and I should straighten up.

I think my day two dress of the 30 Days of Dresses challenge is a bit boring. There are no patterns to be seen, and somehow I never quite feel myself without some sort of pattern going on, even if it is a small one. But I do love the color of this dress. Even if it does remind me of Halloween and pumpkins.

I suppose I lied a little when I said that only the best dresses/outfits would make my blog for this challenge- I forgot that until this weekend, I have no backup photos. Not that it matters too much… just, you know. This week’s outfits may or may not be totally horrible and I can’t do anything to hide it.

I have this theory, though, that the appeal of my blog has increased dramatically due to the increased quality photography, because I didn’t start attracting half as many followers until after Mr. Owl started taking my pictures and the quality upped considerably.

I’ve always noticed that if the photograph is a beautiful one, it almost doesn’t matter how ugly someone’s outfit is. There’s some sort of magic in a good picture that just makes everything else shine.

The shoes, that, you may have noticed, I didn’t actually wear. I was too busy climbing a tree barefoot.

Y’know. It’s just what I do.

Obligatory shot of Mr. Owl. I don’t know if you all enjoy seeing pictures of him pop up on the blog, but I do. Obviously. He’s just, you know… swoon-worthy, in my opinion. So when I can actually convince him to hand me the camera and get him to pose a bit, it’s a miracle worth sharing.

I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

Very true! It’s funny how I’ve always heard that the empire waist is most universally flattering, but then it just makes me look pregnant. 😉 Ah, well. Thank you!

Wow your style on a budget blog is pretty cool, I will bookmark it and share it later! The dress isn’t boring it is really sweet, it all comes down to combining I would say…you could team this up with a white lace cami for different structure, or maybe a pink or red one underneath (ofcourse on budget) – yes red and pink! That would be colour blocking! The photographs are very pretty, your ideas are really good!

Well, actually I think that this outfit is pretty cool! I just adore this color, it looks great on you. And I don’t know what you’re doing lately, but you’re constantly getting prettier and prettier! Seriously. I’ll blame it on Mr. Owl <3 😀 😀 You're the most stunning couple! He is taking awesome pictures and you're an amazing model 🙂 The third picture is soooo beautiful! SO beautiful! 🙂

Thank you! I love orange. Mr. Owl does not. But he likes the dress well enough, so I get away with wearing it. 😉
We’ll credit Mr. Owl for making me look good. He’s a master at taking good pictures!

I actually had a similar dress (in the same color!) that I gave away for the very same reason. Kimono-style dresses are not kind to my kind of body shape. But it looks good on you!
And you’re right, great photos really do make a great difference on a blog – love the second one with all the dappled sunlight.

Yeah, I’m thinking that since I don’t wear this dress very often, I might just get rid of it. Even though I really love the color.
      Thank you!

The color is really pretty on you; I have a hard time pulling off orange myself. And yeah, empire waist to tend to do that. The hype of them being flattering on everyone is a little far fetched in my opinion.

I have noticed that too actually. Not that I didn’t like your pictures before, the later ones are gorgeous.

P.s. I honestly think no one minds the pictures of Mr. Owl 😉

Orange is a tricky color. If it’s the wrong shade, it looks whacky on me, but bright colors are generally good with my skin tone. (I can’t wear pastels very well.)

      Hehe, well, good.

You are lovely! The problem with the dress has nothing to do with you. I don’t think that dress style looks good on anyone, but that’s my opinion. Thanks to you and Mr. Owl for adding interest to the “shoot”.

Thank you! The problem with the dress does have to do with my bad posture, although I agree that empire waists aren’t generally flattering. 🙂

I’m an art major, so I can’t help commenting on how much I love the colors! Mr. Owl certainly does a wonderful job!
