30 Days of Dresses: It doesn’t get any girlier than this.
I don’t think I have worn this much pink… ever. Since I was a kid. Pink has never been amongst my favorite colors, possibly because it’s hard to find a good pink for my skin tone, and possibly because I’ve always been the one who wanted to be different. If girls were supposed to love blue, I’d probably decide my favorite color was yellow.
…yellow is a good color.
But that wasn’t the point. I do love the pink of this dress. And also the bow-print. I may have to do some dress-surgery, though, because the original bodice is not flattering. I tied up the sleeves, so you can’t see how they drape normally, but they sort of just flap around like weird wings and make my shoulders look wide while the chest-area droops. Not a good look.
But with a ribbon and a little time spent fiddling with the sleeves, I got it to look halfway decent. Eventually, I’m going to hem it up to a little below the knee instead of mid-calf, and I’ll tinker with the bodice so that it fits better and looks better.
Being that it’s a very full skirt, I did have to twirl. Obviously.
I would love more dresses with quirky prints like this one, and in this fabric. I have no idea what fabric it is (I didn’t look at the tag), but it’s the perfect amount of structure and general swishiness, so it’s not too stiff or too flimsy. I love it!
And the bow-print is a definite plus.
In other news: my birthday is on Friday! And I want this. Please?
If you didn’t know, I posted this weekend’s dresses on my Facebook Page. And one or two of them, I may eventually sell. We’ll see!
I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
