Friday Links: Wedding Style

What I hope my wedding will evoke:ย 1. paper lanternsย 2. the perfect wedding dress 3. flower headband 4. pie in jars 5. owl cake toppers 6. wildflower bouquet 7. foresty wedding cake.

Just to warn you guys, this blog might become very wedding-focused in the next four months. But I am (naturally, and obviously) really excited, so you know.

So far, everything has been falling into place incredibly easily. We have a place, a date, an officiant, colors, a photographer, my aunt will make our wedding cake and desserts (we’re having pie and cake in 4oz mason jars, and then she’s going to make us a personal cake to cut that looks like that one up there), his sister will help coordinate, decorate, and do flowers, and we even have a place that we will most likely rent for a while!

It’s all overwhelmingly wonderful. The only big thing left, for me, is finding a wedding dress. The one I’ve always adored is an antique 1800’s wedding gown that sold online for somewhere around $2,000… which is like… my entire budget for the wedding. So, you know, no antique wedding gowns for me. But I go to David’s Bridal on Monday to try on dresses, and they’re having a big sale right now… so maybe we’ll find something that evokes that antique-ness I love for much, much cheaper.

In other news, my soon-to-be-niece started her own fashion blog, and it is already awesome! I think she has great style, and she’s just so pretty anyway. I can’t wait to be her official aunt.

I should probably go before I break down into mushiness, but I just have to say: I am incredibly blessed to have future in-laws as wonderful as Mr. Owl’s family. It’s still unreal that this dream is happening!

Oh it’s so exciting! I love weddings and wedding planning. I was in charge of the seating charts at my brother’s wedding ( a momentous task considering the enormity of both our families). It’s just so fun. I can’t wait to hear all your wedding details and plans!!

Haha, oh yes. It’s going to be hard to keep the guest list small– our immediate (including aunts and uncles) family combined is 90 people. But we’re going to try to have a small wedding, and then a big reception in January after the holidays have died down.

Absolutely gorgeous!! I hope I have the guts to plan an unconventionally-styled wedding when that day comes. I guess I’ll just have to see how I feel when I get there, haha. Congratulations!ย

I would say just go with what you love! I think the more uniquely “you” the wedding is, the more fun it is to plan. Rather than going with what is traditional or expected, which can get stressful!
      Thank you!

    Congrats and happy planning!!ย
I am also beginning to start some planning for my wedding and would love to see some of the inspirations of yours! The vintage gown you posted is just so resplendent!

It’s actually quite doable! I was honest with the photographer I really liked and basically ย just asked them if they’d be willing to do the photography for my wedding for a discounted price as I have such a small budget… and then the wedding dress was less than $500, so THAT helped. ๐Ÿ™‚ Everything else… well, we’re picking the flowers for free from a spare lot (they’re basically weeds, but they’re pretty!), we’re getting married at our church, which is free, his dad is the pastor and will officiate… which is free… his sister is helping plan/coordinate… free… yeah. We’re getting a lot of things for free or very discounted. I think it helps to keep it simple and have lots of family that are willing to help. ๐Ÿ™‚
