The Last of the Holidays
A few shots of our Christmas Eve, which we spent with my in-laws. I made two apple pies (well, actually, three, but one was Paleo for my side of the family), and then we went to a cookie-decorating party at my sister-in-law’s house, where the kids reveled in the amount of frosting they were able to smear on their cookies. Asa had his first Christmas cookie, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and he watched through the window as his bigger cousins played a game of football on the lawn.Â
I hope you’ll bear with me and I get used to something other than style blogging! I am still very much used to having photo-based posts, but I’d love to share more everyday life (which right now consists of a lot of naps, a lot of messes, and a lot of Asa doing weird things) with you all. I am not used to indoor photography as much, though, because I tend towards using natural light, which is harder to find inside.
Practice makes perfect, though! I understand now why so many bloggers have just moved their entire residence from one site to another under a completely different name when they decide to shift the content of their blog. It’s hard to reconcile the feel of your usual content with the feel of new content while still keeping it sort of cohesive.
I like my blog name, though, so I don’t really want to change that. Do any of you do lifestyle blogging? What has helped you the most to keep your overall posts feeling cohesive?
Happy Monday!

I think as long as you post about what you really love – be it your children, photography, makeup, anything! – you’ll sound genuine and readers will be draw your authenticity. I think when bloggers start branching off into what they think everyone else loves (even if they don’t really love it personally) then they start sounding boring and unrelatable? I love your lifestyle posts, so keep with it! 🙂

I totally agree about that! I’ve found myself pulled into writing posts that I’m not that into but I write because I see other bloggers do it, and those ones are never as good. I do love posting about life and Asa, though!

I used to do a lot of lifestyle posts, but, over time I ended up just doing outfit posts… I think it doesn’t matter as long as you are happy. I love these family christmas pics too. x

Now I want pie. Really bad! I think its nice to mix things up sometimes, I have struggled to do outfit posts while pregnant, but hope to get back into them soon. And don’t forget, variety is the spice of life : ) (and baby photos are the best!)

I think that your writing style is cohesive and it’s really enjoyable to get a peek into the life of a new family. Personally, it’s nice to see as we are starting to talk about starting our own little family. You have an ADORABLE son and I love your holiday pictures! Congrats on #2!
XOXO,
Danie
