Eiffel Tower dress, t-strap wedges, and retro glasses
It’s always interesting having to follow my own blog posts when going from something that was written in a more professional tone and about more serious matters to… days when I have nothing important to say.
And right now, honestly, I don’t feel like blogging much; I’m finishing up a book that will give me a subject (and outfit) to blog about, but these days I’ve felt a bit braindead. I’m nearing the third trimester of pregnancy, which means that my energy and brain are getting depleted pretty quickly, and all of the subjects I think of to post about don’t really catch my attention. I have noticed in myself a tendency to be very categorical about blogging, where everything should have its proper place — something I should have figured out back when I first started and had (no joke) ten different blogs for different subjects — which makes it hard for me to break out of the fashion blog mold and introduce new things.
But lately, I have been wanting to introduce health/fitness journal type posts, and eventually I would love to share tidbits of life as well. Though the latter will come once we have our own house again.
Fitness and health, though, has been something on the back of my mind for a while. I am by no means an expert or an avid fitness junkie, which probably sets me apart from other mom bloggers who talk about fitness. The extent of my exercise is currently walking as far as I feel able (sometimes, not very far), and doing prenatal yoga when I find the chance.
And the extent of my healthy eating at the moment is focused on avoiding junk food. I would love to share what I’ve been doing, my goals, some recipes, videos I find helpful for busy moms/prenatal moms/postnatal moms, progress, and just my general thoughts so far as my journey to being stronger and more able to run after a toddler while pregnant. I think most of all, fitness posts from me would be more about encouraging others to do what they can, and also journaling my attempts to do the best I can in being a healthy mom and pregnant lady.
Because right now, I get winded climbing our stairs from the basement or walking up the hill from our church to the cars, and I had a moment where I realized if this was how un-fit I was right now, how was I ever going to take care of two kids at once? So, after I’ve got a few more weeks under my belt (it’s been two weeks since I started taking consistent walks) I’ll hopefully be posting progress!

Any other moms out there wanting to get stronger and reach health goals? Please tell me I’m not the only one who can’t walk up stairs without breathing harder. Haha!
I hope you all are having a wonderful Tuesday!

I would love to see some health/fitness posts – I struggle with incorporating any sort of fitness regimen into my life, and the eating thing, too … yeah. It’s tough! (Right now I am failing at even avoiding junk food …) So inspiration would be very welcome 🙂

I fail SO HARD at avoiding junk food most days, but I’m realizing there are some tricks that help that are better than the “drink water” tip or the “just don’t go to the junk food aisle” because those two things do not help me.

I am not a fitness buff, but I have been trying to walk daily. I will be starting aquafit at the local pool in the next week or so. We just moved for my husband’s new job. Between moving expenses, rent and a security deposit we are tapped out until the next pay day. Luckily, I just got a part time job that will allow me to collect employment insurance while on mat leave 🙂
My sugar was too high so I have drastically reduced sugar in my diet and have noticed my wedding ring is looser. At 24 weeks I am not trying to lose weight, just a bonus as I am a bit overweight.
Enjoy your day!

Talking daily walks is reportedly the best thing you can do for your body! It sounds like you’re going through lots of crazy stuff right now; it’s so hard to keep up with health and fitness when you’re moving, pregnant, low on money, have bills to pay… so good for you in doing it anyway! I’m not really trying to lose weight, either, but I do want to maintain a healthy pregnancy weight (and I started this pregnancy about 15lbs over what is a healthy weight for me, so it wouldn’t be bad to lose a little. Especially around the hips.)
After pregnancy, though, I’m hoping to amp up exercise and healthy eating and lose whatever extra weight I carried into the pregnancy, and to maintain a healthy weight. I don’t want to be superthin, just healthy and stronger! It’s so nice that you’ve noticed your wedding ring loosening! Hopefully mine doesn’t; my ring size is small enough as it is! Ha!

I love this whole look and I adore this dress on you, the style, the greatest tourist attraction in the world, the belt, the color, the zipper, everything to love. I did get to visit the Eiffel Tower last year, it was raining. I also love the fact that the way you style your clothes, even though pregnant is totally relevant to anyone. Ask your mom what clothes we wore when pregnant, oh boy, smocks over skirts or big wide dresses. I couldn’t get rid of them fast enough after my second and last child.
