Styled By Emily: Oaxican dress and polka dots
Today’s outfit post is a bit different for two reasons: one, Emily styled what I’m wearing (and she’s wearing an outfit I styled for her, too — check it out!), and I styled my friend Sarah and bribed her to come take pictures with me. Okay, actually it wasn’t very hard to get Sarah to take pictures with me — we used to do photoshoots together all the time, and she’s been my model on several occasions.
Sarah and I have been friends for somewhere around 7-8 years; I don’t remember exactly when I met her, because it feels like I’ve known her forever. She’s one of my best friends, and I love that we kind of “grew up” together in the sense that we both went through a stage of maturing at the same time. Although we still have a very hard time being serious together, as you’ll see.
Since Emily chose to style me in this gorgeous Oaxican dress (you can see it in full here), I told Sarah to wear the other one I own so that we could “match” in a sense. I love having a friend who is always up for photoshoots with me and who I can style; it’s like playing dolls, only with people! Ha!
I think Emily did a fantastic job styling me; I never would have thought to wear any of these items together, but especially not this dress and skirt; I tend to go for fitted tops with full skirts, but I love the way the lines of the outfit work together, and I LOVE how the stark contrast of the skirt emphasizes the embroidery on the top!
If any other bloggers want to play stylist with me, I am totally up for it. I love going through and picking out outfits for other people, and having someone create an outfit for me was exciting, too!
On Sarah: Vintage dress c/o Shop Vintage Minnie | shoes and belt, thrifted
On Me: Vintage dress (as a top), thrifted | Skirt, Modcloth | Cardigan and heels, Target
Thank you Emily for styling me, and for making me see my closet in a few new ways! I might have to wear this dress as a top more often!
Happy Thursday!

You guys are so adorable! The pictures of you two with Asa are absolutely precious. You look great and I love the head scarf with this. I am so jealous that you have TWO of these dresses! I had a couple this summer that sold immediately in my Etsy shop, and I am regretting not keeping one (even though I don’t think they would have fit me very well).

These photos are so cute, it looks like a lot of fun! All the fall leaves are so pretty. I have an dress like this I bought when we visited LA, I had never thought to wear it with a dress over top – it looks great.
