In which I am just slightly scandalous. And also nerdy.
So I’ve had my shirt tied like this– with the exception of at work, where it was tucked in and belted– all day. Through antique-store browsing and thrift browsing while I waited for my check to come in to work, through lunch, through… the pictures, obviously. And I didn’t really realize that I had a bit of skin showing until I got done taking pictures and noticed… y’know… scandalous things.
Oh well.
It’s not like I’m flashing boobs or anything. It’s just a little upper-belly skin.
This is my contribution to the world of scandalous fashion.
I know. I’m falling fast.
So I bought this shirt for the sole reason of the telephone box on it. Â Because it reminded me of Doctor Who, even though that’s a police box and blue. Â And then I got it home and realized two things: one, it’s a child’s shirt (which would be why it’s too short on me, eh?) and two, it’s Miley Cyrus.
We’re going to pretend you didn’t read that.
And also we’re going to pretend you don’t know that I really don’t mind Miley Cyrus at all. (please don’t kill me. You don’t know anything.)
I should also admit that when I went to Goodwill under the vow to just look and not actually buy anything, I bought these shoes. And a scarf. And two sweaters. And also a dress.
But that’s down from the 60+ items I tried on, and the 10+ items I wanted to take home.
I had some fun with posing today. And with jumping. And with… just generally being a dork.
Exhibit A: dork showing off her new coral shoes.
Exhibit B: Jumping with no imagination whatsoever. Jumping in heels is harder than you might think.
Exhibit C: Jumping with a pose in mind. It didn’t quite work, but whatever. These are better than the first jumping pictures I tried.
And, finally, Exhibit D: I have absolutely no idea. Dancing? Bowing? You decide.
I have decided that I need lipstick to match my shoes.
I hope you are all having a beautiful Friday!
I have the weekend off. Whatever shall I do with myself? (Star Wars Marathon? I think yes.)
Details: Shirt($0.99), and shoes ($5.99), thrifted; skirt($22.80), Forever 21; Earrings ($$0.66), Icing. Approximate outfit cost: $30.44

This, my friend, is a brave outfit. And you rocked it! So, good job. I just found your blog while browsing wordpress & think it’s adorable.
Sure wish I could steal those shoes from you.
Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂
Mara
Thank you! I’m glad you like it!

MIDRIFF!!! I SEE MIDRIFF! 😛 Sorry, I love to do that. Yeah, it’s not really that scandalous. I only say it is when someone I strongly dislike (mostly on shows) lets me see midriff and then they’re complete… you-know-what’s. (Starts with an ‘s’ rhymes with mutts.) But only because I’m disinclined to like them anyway.
Funny story! First thing I thought when I saw that shirt, “Awesome! London/Dr. Who!! Oh, but it’s red. But still! Dr. Who!! Wait… isn’t that Miley Cyrus?” Because I saw those at Walmart and I almost bought one but my Taylor Swift-obsessed brother was there and if I bought something at Walmart from the Miley Cyrus collection when they weren’t showing Taylor Swift’s collection anymore, I wouldn’t have made it home to wear the shirt. 😛 But I like it! And it does pain me that she has some awesome clothes.
Mara
Hehehe. Well. I POINTED IT OUT FIRST.
So there. 😀 The first thing I thought– the “starts with ‘s’ and rhymes with ‘mutts’ “) was smutts.
Because I’m that creative. *ahem*
That’s so great! Yeah. I wouldn’t have bought it at Wal-Mart, but it was 99 cents, so… I had to! Even if it IS Miley Cyrus. Who I don’t really hate all that much. Or at all.

Love this outfit. No, it ain’t exactly scandalous, but the proportions, colours, and prints are all awesome! A+. I’ve already forgotten the bit about Miley Cyrus ; )
Mara
For me it is. 😉 Hehe. I mean, not really scandalous, but I don’t generally show belly skin.
Thank you!
Oh good. Short-term memory loss readers are the best! 😉

I love that skirt so much! It looks wonderful on you with the simple t-shirt tied up like that. Also, the coral heels are pretty much amazing. I love that color so much. Coral lipstick would definitely be a fun thing for you to try.
Mara
Thank you, dear! I really love it, too. It’s so easy to style because of the neutral color, too!

Amazing shoes. I love the colour. 🙂
Miley Cyrus? Well, I keep shut about it. 😛
What’s up at your end, Mara? Long time, no talk. (sounds strange, I know 😉 )
Love,
Snigdha <3
Mara
Hehe, Thank you.
I’ve said that to people before. It’s not too strange. Work is pretty much all I’ve been doing lately! It’s taken over my life. And that’s okay, at least I’m being productive now. 😉

I love your outfit! Gorgeous skirt, I can’t seem to make that length of skirt work on me. It looks great with a more casual top as well.
Mara
I think it highly depends on what shoes you wear whether this skirt type looks good on you! And also how low your neckline is– I’ve found that if I wear a long skirt like this, especially with the high waist, I have to wear a shirt with a higher neckline. Anything lower than, say, my collarbone, and it makes me look really short. 🙂
Emily Blackburn
Thankyou for your words of wisdom. I may have to try again to wear one!

Hi!!! COME ON. It’s not skin at all. It’s just a biiiiit of midriff. It looks sexy, in the best possible and less scandalous sort of way. And the skirt is sooo adorbs. It looks amazing with these cute shoes. The color is gorgeous. AND the whole look reminds me SO much of ‘The Notebook’.
hahah, I adore the jumping shots. Of course jumping in heels is far from difficult! I would have probably tripped over and break a leg. Or two 😛
Star Wars marathon? Sounds good. I’m in the middle of a Supernatural marathon. And I just finished a book I was reading. That’s completely random, but I said it because I think you’d like this book. It’s called ‘Brisingr’ and it’s the sequel of the ‘Eragon’ movie. If you have watched it. Aaaanyway, hope you’re having a nice time 🙂
P.S. I’ve been meaning to ask you. What’s up with ‘My Beloved’? Are you still editing it or the job is eating up all of your time?? I’m really anxious to read a new chapter 😀 😀
Mara
Hehe. It is for me! I’m not a midriff showing type of girl. 😉 Thank you, love! I love that movie (although they kissed entirely too much, in my opinion!), and I love that it reminds you of that!
I have seen Eragon! I want to read the books.
My Beloved is still on hiatus. I’m still having writer’s block, and it’s dumb. <3
