The little things
I’m not sure how I feel about these pants.
I’ve been searching for the perfect pair of red straight leg or skinny jeans for a while, and while these still aren’t quite up to my expectations, I think I like them. Other than the fact that they’re skinny pants and they pretty much just go “BOOM I have hips.” Which I’m not sure is altogether flattering. And you can also plainly see the pockets through the fabric, which is annoying.
Out of 50+ pictures, these were the only two that I remotely like. Because of the pants. So we shall see if I regret buying them (at least they were thrifted!) and I will continue to look for the perfect red jeans. One of my other problems with these is that they’re not jean fabric, and they’re not very good at shaping my figure. So there’s that.
Today is a day when scarves are particularly handy– I really didn’t want to shower today because I’ve had a headache all day. A scarf is the perfect disguise for hair that’s a bit too dirty to wear in public. Not that I was really in public today, other than a very short jaunt to a tiny thrift store about five minutes away from home (where I got this sweater).
I forgot to take a picture of my shoes (headache, remember?) but suffice it to say they drive me nuts. One of them squeaks every time I walk. So irritating.
Speaking of shoes, while I was at the little thrift store, I saw three pairs of shoes that I almost bought just to resell. They were Salvatore Ferragamos. Not really my taste, and they were definitely on the small side, but they’re cute. And I thought someone might want them. But then I found other things I wanted (aka sweaters) and I figured I’d leave them for someone else. I did, however, take pictures. For you.
They remind me of Cee. She wore Ferragamo shoes a few days ago.
I tried on quite a few things, considering how small the store was, but only ended up with the sweater I’m wearing and another of the same brand that is maroon and has birds on it. You can see it in this picture, sort of.
And see that coat? The furry one? Yes. I almost bought it. It was vintage rabbit fur. Softest. Coat. Ever.
But it was falling apart at one seam, and it was too big. So I left it and got an old hardback edition of Lorna Doone, an illustrated hardback edition of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and a pretty old teacup instead.
I hope you are all having a lovely day! I’m going to combat this headache with some Chai tea and vanilla cinnamon zucchini bread. Fresh from the oven, no less.

They look good on you! Your whole outfit is great. Now I want vintage jumpers – and lots of them!
Mara
Thank you. 🙂 I’ve been craving more sweaters lately! I looked up the brand– The Individualist– and it started in 1987 was canceled in 1995. So these sweaters are probably quite one-of-a-kind. (If that’s the right brand, anyway…)

How cool! Your chances of running into someone with the same outfit are quite slim then 😉 I’ve been scouring eBay looking for some vintage jumpers haha.

I absolutely love the color of your jeans. And I love your flats. I have been looking for a good pair of nude flats. But, alas, my feet are too tiny.
Mara
They’re actually a little bit brighter in real life. I really love the color, I’m just iffy about the fit.
Nude flats are so hard to find! These are the only ones I’ve seen in a while!

What color is that sweater? It looks black in the first picture, navy in the second, and brown in the third.
My guess is navy.
Mara
It’s navy. The third picture is the most accurate.

I should have tried a scarf. I wore a hat instead for the same reason. Hats look horrible on me.

I usually hate colored skinny jeans, but I like how those look on you. I don’t know how you manage to keep those scarves on around your head–even with copious bobby pins, they always sag off my head 🙁

say what you want to say about having big hips (you don’t), but these jeans look incredible on you. i am jealous that you found some. every thrift store i go to only have teensy juniors sizes!

Ah, yeeees! I too adoooore these red pants on you!!!! I adore the color and the way they fit you! They tone your curves in the most gorgeous, most feminine way possible! You’re so pretty, honestly. And omgosh, I’m in love with the flats! Lately, as I’ve strained my ankle and shouldn’t (even if I do, sometimes :P) wear heels, I try to find cute flats. Yours are GORGEOUS!!! I always had a thing for red combined with nude! And of course the sweater is a cutie 🙂 And the other one, the marroon 🙂 You’re really lucky that you have a thrift store so close to your house. I’m really really jealous. Ah, whatever! I’ll try to keep in touch! Many many kisses :*

Chai tea and zucchini bread sound awesome right about now! I really like the red pants on you. I think they look great and don’t over-emphasize the hips at all! The sweater is really cute with them too.
