Red, white, and nerdiness
I am really excited about today’s post, because for this post I wore my very first sponsor item: a lovely hand-printed scarf from my newest sponsor, Quotation Marks. I was very happy when she offered me a scarf with a quote of my choice in red print, because red is my favorite color… and it meant I could be very, very nerdy with a scarf.
As well, it was the perfect timing to receive a scarf! The first two days of summer here were wonderful and warm, but then the weather went back to its typical Washington-ness and we got lots of rain. So by the time I got this scarf, it was cool enough to wear it, and my neck was kept nice and warm.
Being the nerd that I am, I chose to have the One Ring poem printed on the scarf… in elvish. And it is awesome.
This is what the outfit looked like sans the scarf and coat, but I only looked like this for about five minutes. The sun didn’t stay out very long.
And yes, I am wearing my Arwen necklace. Nerdiness fully exposed.
If you would like your own lovely Quotation Marks scarf, you should jump for them! Right now when you use the code “0WLFRIENDS” (the “o” being a zero), you can get 15% off! And you, too, can display your nerdiness subtly with a pretty, soft scarf… or, y’know, choose some other boring quote like a verse from a song or something normal and non-elvish…

Mara, I knew you would make my scarf look beautiful! It fits you perfectly :).

Well, thank you for making such a wonderful scarf! I really love it! And Mr. Owl is very jealous, so I may just have to get him one of his own. He’s been trying to steal mine. 😉
Farrell
I’m sooo glad you love it! I’ve had a few people suggest a manly version of the script scarf… Mr. Owl might be the vote that gets me working on it! Although I have to say, my husband was also super impressed that you got a scarf with Elvish on it… so maybe the manly version will just be scarves with everything LOTR :).

That scarf is awesome! 😀
Also, my heart stopped for a few moments when I saw that necklace.
You make nerdiness cool! And that sentence makes me a nerd! 😀
Have a great week!
Mara
I know! It is now one of my favorite things ever. Hahaha! Isn’t nerdiness a thing now? I dunno. But I don’t care if it isn’t. 😀Â
Alice
That scarf is beautiful, such a cool poem to choose as well xo
Mara
Thank you! It is such a wonderful scarf, I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to wear it!

That’s so beautiful! I totally was like, “Oh my goodness, it’s in Elvish!” When the LOTR first came out in theatres I wanted her necklace *so* bad. I had one that looked similar and I pretended that it was Arwen’s. I was a very strange child…hehe
Marie
Mara
Hey, I pretended to be Arwen ALL the time. So we were probably both very strange. Or very cool. 😀
mariecarolk
 Definitely very cool 🙂

You picked the best quote ever to put on that scarf! I tip my hat to you. Okay, I don’t, but only because I’m not wearing one.
Mara
So, you tip your imaginary hat, then? 😉
Avra-Sha Faohla
Yes!
Carina
I love that scarf!!
Mara
Thank you, so do I!

I’m so jealous that you still get to wear a scarf in late June! I would totally steal that scarf from you. And the necklace too 😀
Mara
I wish it was too warm to wear scarves, except that I don’t because then wearing this one wouldn’t be as comfortable. 😀Â
No stealing! It’s not allowed. 😀

I love scarves, and this one is just perfect! The red and white contrast is nice, and your lovely white top! So pretty.
Mara
Isn’t it great? I really love it. Thank you!

I want every item featured in this post, but especially the scarf, and
the necklace. I bought my friend an Arwen necklace, but never got myself
one. :/ I’m too good a friend. I did the same with Kdrama memorabilia.
Okay, I need to be more selfish!! 😛 And I absolutely love that you put
the Elvish One Ring text! So when people are like, “Oh, what do the
words on your scarf say?” You can give them a pointed look and say,
“It’s some form of Elvish. You can’t read it.”
Also, you redefine “nerdiness” with your natural beauty and sense of style. You make nerdy pretty. 😉
Oh, and this is Beth… from Hear a Snippet…
Mara
You should so get yourself an Arwen necklace! Or forcefully hint to someone that you require an Arwen necklace for a gift. 😀 Hehehe. It’s funny because people who don’t know Lord of the Rings still love the necklace.Â
Yes, but then if they ask me to read it, I’ll be like “Uhhhhh… well… it…” *runs away* because I can’t pronounce the words properly. 😀
Beth, I have missed you!Â
TJ
you are absolutely adorable, girl! loving all the pops of red!! 🙂
xo TJ
Mara
Oh, thank you!Â
Sarah
What a timely post- I just finished reading the LOTR and am almost finished watching all of the movies. I can’t wait until The Hobbit comes out in December! What a great, nerdy idea to get the quote in Elvish!
