Wedding Pictures, Part One: The girls

We finally got our wonderful, wonderful wedding pictures from the awesome Ivory Button, and I’m SO excited to start sharing them with you! There are a million pictures and I love all of them, so I  will be doing an all-wedding week this week, ending with a super exciting giveaway from Simply Bridal on Friday (so be sure to stick around and see what it is!)

Part one, as the title of this post might suggest, is all about me and my girls (and my family). Mr. Owl and I elected not to see each other until I walked down the aisle, so we took all of these pictures before I had seen him. I’m so glad we decided to do that, because his reaction to seeing me was priceless!

Getting Ready
Owl Boots
I did my own hair and makeup, which my photographer thought was very brave. But for me… I am very comfortable doing both hair AND makeup, and don’t generally like letting other people near my face with curling irons or makeup brushes. Plus, I have done makeup for other people for their weddings, so it wasn’t a big deal to do my own.Makeup

I had a lot of fun getting ready at the church with my dear friend Sarah, my only bridesmaid. She, luckily, has beautifully curly hair already, and her gorgeous freckled face needs absolutely no makeup.

And here is the detail you’ve all been waiting for: the beautiful, beautiful dress.DressThis is the dress that is absolute perfection that I LOVE. I wish I could wear it again, because it is heaven. Everything about it was exactly what I ever wanted; it looks a little retro/1950’s, it’s full-skirted, it’s unique… *Swoon* and it was the last one, needed no tailoring, and was in our budget (of under $500).

BraceletI also wore this necklace as a bracelet; it was worn by  my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother, and then me on our wedding days. I hope that if I have a daughter, she will wear it on her wedding day too somehow!

PrayingMy parents prayed for me before the ceremony. It was such a special time; my dad cried, my mom cried, and Sarah cried… but for some reason I didn’t cry. Which is weird, because I cry ALL THE TIME.
Looking Away
Looking at flowersI think was too happy and also too… awed that the day was really happening. It all felt like some sort of rehearsal, too good to be true.
EliseMy adorable niece was my flower girl, and she was SO excited to be in the wedding. Afterwards, she went up to her mom and said “Mommy, I want to do that again!”
The girlsI had my other two nieces, her sisters, hand out bubbles. Seriously, I have the cutest nieces ever. No contest. 😉 I might be prejudiced…
WEdding girlsLooking back at the pictures, I really love how everything turned out. The day of, I didn’t really have lots of time to take in how the whole wedding party looked because I was too preoccupied and nervous. But oh, it all was perfect!

BrothersMy brothers were ushers; don’t they look sharp? I’m so blessed to have such a wonderful family.
Mommy
DaddyThose two have to be two of my favorite pictures out of the bunch. I love my parents. (My daddy cried pretty much the whole day, and it was the sweetest thing ever.)
Marry MeAnd that’s part one! Tomorrow, I’ll share Mr. Owl’s side of the pictures as well as ceremony pictures… and then Friday, there’s a giveaway, and then Monday or Tuesday, I’ll share the very last of the pictures (my favorite ones).

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
