The Bee’s Knees

21

This dress is one of those dresses that I really, really love, but rarely wear. It’s just slightly too long for my taste (I prefer knee length), and the sleeves are kind of huge, but I love the color, the pattern, and the vintage 70’s/80’s ness of it. And for some reason, I think it works better on me while I’m pregnant.

I feel like I’ve definitely grown more confident with style being pregnant, which was totally unexpected! I’m more bold in my choices, and I feel more like I have found a style that I belong in.

I hope that doesn’t end once I have the baby.

Tonight, the husband and I are going to see 12 Years A Slave; has anyone seen the previews for that? It looks amazing, but it isn’t being released everywhere (which I don’t understand). Thankfully, we have two vouchers for a theater in Tacoma where it IS playing, so not only do we get to go see it, it’s free for us! Haha, we are just now using gift tickets given to us for our wedding. How slow is that?

But I really need to cook a quick dinner (as in, we can eat it fast) because we have to leave 15 minutes after he usually gets home. And I have no idea what to make. It might be one of those days where I resort to junk food (aka Top Ramen) because… let’s be honest, I’ve been really tired all day and laziness is kind of high on my list right now. Haha!

I think working from home (ie: my couch) kind of has some effects on how productive I feel throughout the day. That, and being pregnant.

I can’t believe how early it gets dark now. I really don’t like dark weather, and that’s the one thing I never like about winter. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas, and cold weather and snow (when we get it), but the whole getting dark at 4:30 thing is not my favorite.

Oh, well. I guess that’s the sacrifice we have to make for having two of the best holidays of the year so close to each other.

I received these earrings from Oasap with that amazing shirt and necklace I’ve been wearing non-stop. Aren’t they amazing? Along with loving pretty much any animal-related jewelry, I’ve also secretly always loved random bug jewelry. I’m more into brooches and earrings for buggy jewelry, so when I saw these I knew I needed them. And they are every bit as amazing as they looked online!

I love that they’re big, and they’re very mod-retro, and, of course, the bee. Kind of perfect.

We’re going to announce Baby Owl’s name on Thanksgiving. I’m so excited! We’ve unofficially had his name picked out for… probably four months now,  but we didn’t really settle on it until Mr. Owl finally decided we’d tell everyone before the baby was born. Originally, he wanted to wait till we actually HAD the baby, but everyone asked so many questions he changed his mind. And that pushed us to actually firmly decide on a name.

We had one name (first and middle) in the back of our minds, but we still looked through the entire database of Behindthename.com’s boy names before we finally said “nah, the one we have is good.”

I can’t wait to share it with all of you! Our baby has a name.

I’m gonna cry now. Pregnant hormones and all.

Well, Mr. Owl will be home in like… five minutes… and it’s getting colder outside so I probably won’t actually wear this to the theater. That’s the one thing I hate about working from home (not hate, but you know); I never get to go anywhere with my outfits like I did when I was working in an office.

But the whole not having to get up super early or be hormonally pregnant at an office is nice. Haha!

So there’s that.

I hope you are all having a beautiful Thursday!

Yay I’m super excited to hear the name!! I haven’t seen the trailers for 12 Years a Slave, but a lot of people have been coming into the library to request the book lately and it seems like a great storyline, let us know how you liked it!

You look wonderfully 80s in this outfit in the best of ways.
I haven’t seen 12 years a slave yet, BUT I did read the book. The movie is a must see-maybe this weekend!

LOVE this outfit! The print on that dress is so fun! I usually wear dresses to the knee, too, but I actually really like that length!

I totally agree that it’s rough having it get dark so early. I’m always pumped when I stop having to walk home from work in the dark. Hopefully the dark days will pass quickly, but the holidays won’t!

So excited to hear baby owl’s name!

Such a beautiful outfit! This dress is adorable, I love the length and color- and the pintuck details down the front are great! 🙂 Congratulations on choosing a name! And btw, your makeup is seamlessly beautiful in these shots.
