Nerdy Pregnant Wife
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, can you believe it? I was going to do a post on what I’m going to wear tomorrow, since I likely won’t have time tomorrow to post anything (you know, spending time with family and all, haha!) but then I got lazy. I have the rest of my shift for work to finish, plus I’m baking Paleo pumpkin pie and Paleo coconut macaroons to bring to the family gatherings, I want to rearrange the living room so that we can fit a tree somewhere in the tiny space, I want the house to be clean by tonight, and they’re coming to fix/replace our sliding glass door soon.
So instead, I just stuck with being the nerdy pregnant wife. This is what I wear when holiday baking, working, and also just being lazy. I actually got this shirt more because my husband likes it, although I’m a Back to the Future fan as well… he’s much more obsessed.
We went to the midwife last night, and affirmed that Baby Owl’s head is down and his feet are up. Which means he can simultaneously push on my bladder while testing the strength of my lungs. And he routinely does. Mostly at night.
But it’s good that he’s head down! I’ve heard like three or four stories recently of women who had breech babies (where the head is up and the feet are down) so they had to have emergency C-sections, and it just doesn’t sound pleasant. I’m terrified of any kind of surgery. Even if I will be shot full of drugs and unable to feel a thing — actually, I think that makes it worse, to me. I hate taking drugs, and I don’t like the way it feels. (So yes, if you were wondering, I will be having a drug-free all natural delivery.)
I’m also really excited to reveal his name to my family tomorrow! I have his initials in wooden letters painted for his nursery area, and I haven’t decided whether I want to show everyone a picture of the initials and let them guess at what it is, or if we should just tell them to guess their best guesses before we say what his name is.
But I think it will make it feel more real to have everyone know his name. Somehow, even though I only have seven weeks of pregnancy left, it’s still unreal to think I’ll have an actual baby in my arms soon. And January seems so far away!
I had said I didn’t think I was hitting a nesting phase yet, but then my mom pointed out that I definitely am. It’s just not the clean-the-whole-house kind of a phase, it’s more that I really want to get his nursery done, and make sure I have everything I need, and generally just be super-prepared as early as possible.
So I guess I am sort of going through the nesting phase. It’s just not as strong as I had expected.

Speaking of nesting, though, I need food (I don’t know how that relates, but y’know) and I need to finish up work and get to baking! I’m crossing my fingers that both recipes turn out well! But nothing from this cookbook has failed me yet, so I have high hopes.
Plus, it’s funny, I’ve noticed that Paleo desserts actually taste better than regular ones. Maybe it’s just the added knowledge that I’m not going to feel terrible afterward, but I think Paleo dessert has a richer flavor to it.
I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving!

It’s a pretty great movie! This shirt has become one of my favorites. Hehe.
I am a month and a half away. It’s coming up SO SOON! Oh my goodness, I cannot even believe it. To me, January still sounds like it’s really far away, but then my phone tells me I have 6-1/2 weeks left and I’m like “WHAAAT???” I so need to get all stocked up for his arrival…
