You’re a Hoot
This weekend, my husband and I are going to start in on another short film, this time just for fun. He’s had this idea to do a Red Riding Hood story for a while, but since we have no deadlines it’s just been simmering on a back burner and we’ve been procrastinating. But he wants to start making monthly short films, so hopefully we’ll be getting into the habit of filming more often! As always, I’m in charge of makeup and costumes.
My niece, who will be Red Riding Hood, already has an amazing hooded cape we can use, but I’ve got to find the rest of her outfit as well as a costume for the woodsman and the wolf, and all by Saturday. Oh, dear. I know we can do it; I mean, we made a movie in 72 hours so obviously we’ll pull something together. But man, I feel like since we don’t have a deadline I want to make everything super perfect, and a week is not enough time! Hopefully the characters will have a bit of a steampunk look to them — very subtle, but there — and I’m particularly worried about the woodsman. His costume will be the hardest to find, since the wolf will also be caped and not much of him will be seen. And actually, we can’t start with the costume shopping until Wednesday, which gives me even less time. I think I tend to work better last-minute anyway, though, so I’m only a little bit worried. Haha! So can we talk about my dress for a second? Because… it’s got owls all over it. And it makes me so incredibly happy!
I was a bit worried that it might be too short when I decided to get it, because Oasap dresss and skirts tend to run short (their sizing in general is on the small side), and it is on the shorter side for me. But I love it with flat shoes, and I LOVE the print. I do love me a good owl, but I’m kind of particular about how they look, and I think these owls are pretty fantastic. Especially for fall!
Plus, the material is all stretchy and comfortable, so I’ll be wearing it quite often in the months to come! It’s a perfect layering garment, and it basically feels like wearing an oversized tee. My only complaint is that on me, the waistline is a hair too low. But that happens to me quite often, so I’m sure on someone else it would be perfect.

I hope you all have a fantastic Monday! I am currently bribing Asa to be in a good mood with baby snacks. It’s one of those days.
