BBRBF’s Forever | Outfit + Meeting Sara Lily!
GUYS.
So last month, Sara Lily from In a Nutshell was in town, and I was so, so excited to meet her! We had tried to meet up once before when she came in for a business trip, but it was during the week and I didn’t have a car, so it was a bust. But this time, it was the weekend. I had a car, she hopped the ferry, and we met up in my hometown of Port Orchard for some antique shopping and general silliness.
As you can see, we are both a bit giggly and awkward, but it was so much fun! I love how truly happy we look in these pictures! We got along really well; I think we’re both similar in personality, and had just enough nerdiness to get along swimmingly.
Asa and Nehemiah and Evie all came with me, and Asa warmed up to her… after his usual period of being smiley-but-shy. Evie just liked her right away (as did I!) I’m always a little bit shy about bringing my kids/husband with me when I meet new people, because I don’t want them to feel awkward (the new people) or feel overwhelmed by my troupe. But Sara seriously took it all in stride and we ALL loved her!
For a few weeks before she came, we shot ideas back and forth for outfits, and finally settled on these dresses – mine, because I’ve only worn it once on the blog, hers because the color is perfect to match my flowers! And then as we wandered looking for a place to shoot photos, this mural went so well with us that we had to pose in front of it.
We may have been photobombed by a few fish and an octopi, but it was worth it.
Sara Lily is such a pro at posing, she inadvertently taught me a few things that I’ve been putting in use since then (as I mentioned here)! But we had a great laugh about how hard it is to pose with someone. You want to joke and talk and it feels so awkward to just stand silently next to someone making your “blogger face” (come on, we all have one). But I love the silly photos every bit as much as the serious ones.
Everything: vintage, except for the shoes and belt… which were thrifted. And the coat is from Skye.
I know I have made a BBRBF (best book reading blogger friend) for life with this gal! And I need to meet more blogger friends; after having met Hilary and Marlen and now Sara, I feel like I’ve finally found my “group.”
You know, how in Highschool you’re always in a clique? I didn’t have one. I was the floater. But now, I’ve found my people, who I can talk to about blogging without it feeling awkward, who totally get the woes of a rainy day when you’re wearing a great outfit, and who are genuinely some of the coolest people I’ve ever met! Not to mention, the nicest!
Come back soon, Sara!
And, happy Thursday!

You bet your bum I RAN here the moment our posts went live, right? 😉 I also love how similar our posts are – both of us just gushing over each other. If we were in high school together, we would have TOTALLY been in each other’s clique. 😉

You two could be SISTERS. It’s insane just how happy this post made me!! I felt like I was giggling and smiling right along with y’all. I so wish I didn’t live on the other side of the continent from you and (what feels like) Hannah. Y’all are my loves! I also love the happiness in these photos! You can tell they are extremely real and contagious <3.

Oh, my gosh. You two are the cutest pair ever. If you were a high school clique, I would totally be the freshman chasing after you trying to get your attention (I was not cool in high school). But, seriously. It’s so sweet to see two people having so much fun together!

Hahaha! I was not cool in high school, either. I mean, I’m pretty sure there’s a picture of me floating around in a jean vest, middle-parted hair with my bangs clipped to either side with those flat hair clips, round harry-potter style glasses with rainbow frames, and braces.
Yep. It was a good look. 😉

This is so lovely and reminds me of when I met one of my best blogging friends (Porcelina’s World) in real life last year. It’s such an amazing experience to bond with someone online and then meet them for real and find out they’re just as awesome in the flesh. Hurrah for blogging bringing people closer together <3

Your meetup looks/sounds like so much fun! One might say you got along swimmingly… (Had to go there because of the mural!)
