Poison Ivy
So I am definitely not happy with today’s post, other than the makeup. But then, considering that this character is usually REALLY… uh… slutty… well. It’s the best I could do. Makeup-wise, I took inspiration from this picture, the purple flower in her hair, and… of course, lots of green. I would have loved to have done a more fitted dress, or perhaps green pants and a tee, or to have been covered in vines and leaves, but oh well! Next time, when I have more time and energy and costume material.  I am mostly happy with how the makeup turned out, though! I think I also want to try doing Uma Thurman’s version of the makeup here, because it is super gorgeous! While I was out taking pictures, I stumbled upon this little guy, out for a scoot. I love caterpillars, they’re so fuzzy and cute! We always called these Fuzzy Wuzzys. Anyway. I have one more red-haired character-inspired outfit to figure out for tomorrow, and I think I know who I want to do… but we’ll see if I actually have the clothing items to do her with! And then on Friday, I’ll either be a princess or Red Riding Hood. I’m voting Red Riding Hood, but we found this adorable frog costume for Asa to wear trick-or-treating, and how cute would it be to go as the Princess and the Frog?
Yeah. I don’t know what Mr. Owl would be though; the prince after he’s been kissed?

I’m sorry I don’t have much to say today! I have been working on getting the house clean because somehow over the weekend a bomb of baby toys and clothes and dishes went off all over the place, so I’ve got to pick up the aftermath. Haha!
I hope you are all having a good week so far! The sun is out and I’m hoping it stays that way.
Happy Wednesday!

I think you did a great job on the Poison Ivy costume! Your makeup looks gorgeous and I like that you did a modest version of her, I haven’t see many rendition of her that are actually something I would think to wear!

Thank you! I just wish I’d had more leaves and vines to tack on — I do back home, but none of my crafty things are with me here!

I’ve always wanted to be poison ivy for halloween! Thanks for such a great ‘classy’ version 🙂

I think that’s a great Poison Ivy costume. You don’t always have to go skimpy or covered in leaves.
Eccentric Owl
No, I didn’t want to be skimpy or anything, I just wanted more viney things, and maybe something more fitted rather than the flowy silhouette, because even in the (very few) clothed options I found of her, she wore more fitted clothes rather than flowing.

How on earth do you look so perfect in green lipstick? That’s not natural to look that good in green lipstick. I adore the eye makeup as well, the purple underneath was genius!
Eccentric Owl
Haha, thank you! (It’s actually eyeshadow). I think it really helps to not wear any sort of blush and have a really pale complexion– any kind of pink makes the green look super bad on my skin!

I love that you’ve created the non-slutty poison ivy! I think you pulled it off. I would have loved to have seen vines/ivy too! That would be fun to play around in makeup, but a disaster to take off I’m sure haha. <3

The lips weren’t hard to get off, but my goodness this eyeshadow likes to stay put!

I personally love your classier version of poison ivy! I completely got what you were right away. I think so many costumes now a days are so trashy. It’s wonderfully refreshing to see a unique version of her. I do agree your makeup is the best part! I love blending you did on your lips!
